Being PRO of Network Ireland West Cork far exceeded my hopes for professional growth

2019 Network Ireland West Cork committee

Back in March 2018, I had the good fortune to attend the launch of Network Ireland West Cork, a branch of Network Ireland, in The Ludgate Hub in Skibbereen, Co Cork.  Over 200 West Cork businesswomen listened to guest speaker Dee Forbes, Director-General at RTÉ, and by the end of the evening I was hooked.

Not long after, I contacted the newly appointed president of Network Ireland West Cork, Adrienne Harrington, Chief Executive at The Ludgate Hub.  I expressed an interest in joining the committee as PRO and the rest, as they say, is history.

As I’m now at the end of my second year on the committee, I reflect on how lucky I was to cross paths with this driven group.  We’ve had monthly events that varied from workshops on the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator®, speed networking, business awards and, more recently, a Sleepout in Sherkin for Cork Simon Community organised by 2019 President, Ciara Byrne.

For me, the benefits of being part of the Network Ireland West Cork committee were far reaching. It exceeded my initial goal of professional growth in many ways and, ultimately, resulted in me relocating back home to West Cork to work at Spearline.

Any member who is interested in joining the 2020 Network Ireland West Cork committee can contact incoming president Caroline Murphy at westcorkeggs@gmail.com before the AGM on Tuesday, December 3, 2019.

I couldn’t recommend it highly enough.
